Party Mode puts the clue board on a TV and turns every team’s phone into a buzzer and answer pad. You run the room from the host console, which shows the answers to you and nobody else, so you never have to know the answers ahead of time.
What you need
- A screen everyone can see: a TV with a browser, a laptop plugged into a TV, or a tablet propped up where the room can see it.
- One phone per team. The app or a phone browser both work, and players need no account.
- Your own device for the host console. It stays separate from the board because it shows the answers.
- Any supplies from your prep list, only if your game includes physical challenges. Trivia Night games never do.
Set up your night
Setup is a short wizard with one question per card, on the website and in the app. It remembers where you left off, so you can answer tonight and do the supply check tomorrow.
Step 1: Tap Start Game
Open My Games and press Start Game on your Party Mode game. Just bought it? Play Now after checkout drops you straight into the wizard.
Step 2: Answer a few quick questions
Choose teams or individual players, how your group answers trivia, and how many rounds to play. Every game uses office-safe content, and everything else is already tuned for you.
- Buzz in
- The classic race to the buzzer. The first team to buzz answers, and other teams can steal.
- Race to answer
- The question and five answers appear on every phone at once, and the first right tap takes it. Offered only on games that support it.
Step 3: Choose whether to get up and move
Say yes and races, guessing games, and performances join the board. Prefer the couch? Say no and trivia, Place Your Bet, and the head-to-head duel still play.
Step 4: Let us remember your choices
Under how you answer, how many rounds, and get up and move, leave Remember my preference ticked and next time we fill those in for you and skip the cards. After you name your team we ask whether to always use that name.
Step 5: Put the board on a big screen
Open mmplay.io on the TV or computer and scan its code with the Mission Masters app, or choose Host a game on the TV and your phone becomes the remote. No big screen at all? Everyone can play from their phones and show the board there.
Step 6: Invite your teams
Show the one QR code on screen or share the game key. Each team scans it, creates its team, and picks a name. Teams can start with one team and grow, and late arrivals can still join a team that is already playing.
Step 7: Let latecomers in
Once the game starts, the join code sits in the bottom left corner of the board between questions and steps aside while a question is up. A new team can still jump in until two questions have been answered. After that, newcomers join a team that is already playing.
Step 8: Start the game
Press Start the Game on the last step. A short checklist shows anything that would block the start, with a Fix it button for each. Then the board builds and you land on your team’s screen. Tap Host Controls there any time to open the host console.
Run the night
The console is built so nothing scary happens by accident. Anything you might regret asks you to confirm first.
- The board has six categories and five values each. Higher rows are worth more.
- Three clues each round are surprise physical challenges that look like normal squares until someone picks them.
- Place Your Bet squares let every team wager and answer at once. Duels and Tell Me Without Telling Me add head-to-head and team showdowns.
- In bigger team games, SELL IT has teams film a 20-second commercial and vote for the best pitch.
- Pause the game when the pizza arrives. Skip or replay a clue if it did not load. Tap a finished square to fix who won it.
- Tap the Host Help button in the console any time for a plain English tour of every host power.
The finale
Step 1: End the game
End the game from the console and the finale begins: medals for the top teams, and a champion moment on the board for a clear winner.
Step 2: Settle a tie
If teams tie for first, a Speed Trivia Face-Off decides it. Prefer a draw? Declare co-champions instead and every tied team gets gold.
Step 3: Keep the memories
The top three teams earn a trophy, and scores post to the Party High Scores boards. Each team also gets a memory video built from its physical challenge clips. Want one more round? Restart the game and every phone carries straight into a fresh board.
