A Discovery Mission turns a real neighborhood into the game board. Each team plays from one phone, working through puzzles, trivia, and tasks tied to the places around them. As the host you set up the teams, share the codes, and press start.

Set up your Mission

  1. Step 1: Pick a Mission and buy it

Browse the Discovery Missions and choose a place you want to play. Each Mission has its own starting point, so pick one your group can get to.

  2. Step 2: Set up your teams

Open your game in My Games and name your teams. Your game includes two teams, so a rival crew costs nothing extra. Need more? You can add teams from setup.

  3. Step 3: Share the codes

Teams are set up by the host, so each team gets its own code and QR code. Share them by email or in person. Your players enter the code in the Mission Masters app and their team is in.

  4. Step 4: Choose your play style

Leisure Mode has no clock and plays for points, for any number of teams. Competitive Mode runs on a clock, and the most points when time is up wins. The lobby suggests a mode based on how many teams are playing, and you can change it.

On Mission day

  1. Step 1: Gather at the starting point

Your teams see where to go in the lobby, along with a link to watch the Mission intro. The Mission begins when you start it.

  2. Step 2: Press Start

Every phone plays the intro and a short countdown, so every team begins at the same moment. If one phone is slow to catch up, tap Start now, don’t wait and the rest of the teams are not held up.

  3. Step 3: Follow along from the lobby

The host view shows your teams, who is ready, and lets you resend an invite or add a team. The scoreboard sits behind the trophy icon at the top of the screen.

  4. Step 4: Want a big scoreboard?

Open mmplay.io on a TV and choose Host a game. From your couch the TV shows the scoreboard, and your Mission still starts in the lobby at the starting point.

Finish and remember

  1. Step 1: End the game

When the Mission is done, end the game. Finishing stamps each team’s Passport with the city and its result, and in Competitive Mode the top three finishers earn a trophy they can share.

  2. Step 2: Save or discard the footage

If your teams captured photos or clips, the app asks once: Keep the footage? Choose Save and make the video to start a memory video for every team, or Discard footage to delete it all. Saved memories are kept for 30 days.

Keep going
