An event is one game night: one game, one group, one date. You can set it up on the website or in the app, and your progress saves as you go, so you can finish later.
Before you start
- A Mission Masters account. You will sign in to buy a game and to host it.
- The Mission Masters app on your phone. Discovery Missions are played in it, and it makes hosting easy.
- For a Murder Mystery, your guest list: a first name, last name, and email for every player.
- A screen the whole room can see, if you want one. A TV, a laptop, or a tablet all work, and phones alone work too.
Set up your event
Step 1: Pick your game
Browse the Games page and choose a play style: Discovery Missions, Murder Mystery, or Party Mode. Open a game to see what it is about.
Step 2: Buy it and sign in
Add the game to your cart and check out. You will sign in or create an account, so your game lives in My Games.
- Party Mode
- Party Mode unlocks once and stays unlocked for your organization, and playing a game again is free.
Step 3: Open your game and start setup
After checkout your game waits in My Games. Open it and start setup.
- Party Mode
- Play Now after checkout drops you straight into the setup wizard.
Step 4: Answer the setup questions
Setup is a short, guided walk through the choices that matter, and it saves as you go.
- Party Mode
- One question per card: teams or individual players, how to answer trivia, how many rounds, and whether you want to get up and move.
- Murder Mystery
- Who narrates the case, when and how you will play, your team name, how characters are assigned, and your guest list.
- Discovery Missions
- Name your teams. Your game includes two teams, so bringing a rival crew costs nothing extra.
Step 5: Invite your players
Everyone needs a way in. Setup gives you exactly what to share.
- Party Mode
- Show the QR code or share the game key. Each team scans it, creates its team, and picks a name. Late arrivals can still join a team that is already playing.
- Murder Mystery
- Add each guest with a name and email, assign characters or let guests pick, then choose Save and send invites. Guests accept from their email.
- Discovery Missions
- Each team gets its own code and QR code. Share them by email or in person.
Step 6: Put the game on a big screen (optional)
A TV or computer makes Party Mode and Murder Mystery feel like a show. Open mmplay.io on the screen, then scan its code with the Mission Masters app. Prefer to start from the couch? Choose Host a game on the TV and your phone becomes the remote.
Step 7: Start the night
When everyone is in, press start.
- Party Mode
- Press Start the Game on the last step. A quick checklist shows anything still missing, then the board opens and your host console appears.
- Murder Mystery
- Open the lobby, give guests a moment to gather, and press Start Game. The detective takes it from there.
- Discovery Missions
- Gather at the starting point and press Start. Every phone plays the intro and a countdown, so everyone begins together.
Step 8: End the game and keep the memories
When the night wraps, end the game. If your teams captured photos or clips, a memory video lands under Mission Memories. On a Discovery Mission you choose whether to save or discard the footage when you end the game.
Tips for a smooth first night
- Try the big screen before guests arrive. Two minutes of testing saves ten minutes of troubleshooting.
- For Party Mode, put every phone on the same Wi-Fi. Buzzing is decided by whose signal reaches the game first, so shared Wi-Fi keeps it fair.
- Charge phones before a Discovery Mission. Your team plays from one phone.
- Plan the food. Our recipes page has simple game night menus.
